limiting factors- water ecosystems

By

Lack of fresh drinking water due to population pressures and corporations can affect many underwater ecosystems like coral reefs, abyssal plains, kelp forests, lakes, rivers and ponds.

The human activity that increases limiting Factors that impact the ecosystem include pollution, littering, fishing, sewage/water from households and recreation. All of the things listed here can take a toll on some of the living things in the ecosystem. Aquatic recreation can cause water pollution from motorboats releasing gas/oil into the water which can hurt sea life and habitats. Though plastic reduction is being supported by businesses and companies, plastic is still a major polluter in water ecosystems. Sealife is consuming plastic which is harmful to them. Humans dumping waste into water isn’t just affecting the sealife and ecosystems, but is going to come back and hurt them. Fish and water are a big resource for people and the supplements are going to run out if people keep dumping their waste there. For the sea life, this could mean a loss of food because of waste, especially if it’s toxic. The waste can be ruining habitats and killing fish, causing a decline in food. Another way human activity affects living things in the ecosystem is fishing. Trawls and dredger nets are a certain method of fishing when you use a net that reaches the ocean floor. This can be effective to catch fish, but when fishers do this, they are affecting ecosystems on the ocean floor. Sea animal’s habitats are destroyed in the process.

Human activity can cause effects on the water ecosystems. Living things in the underwater ecosystems are being hurt because of the water they live in, their habitats being destroyed, and plastic. Humans are the ones who are doing this to them so we should find a way to reverse what we have been doing.
