Are We Running Out of Fresh Drinking Water?!
ByPeople starting to wonder if water is going to run out. They are right. The earth may look like it has enough drinking water to last us billions of years ahead, but pollution and toxins that are put into it say otherwise.
Eventually, in the future there will not be enough water to support humans and other life on earth. Researchers say that in the future, once we run out of water there will either be a world-wide famine or World War III over fresh drinking water.
Farmers’ pesticides and pollution in our water are causing us to start running out of fresh drinking water. Many humans are responsible for the new lack of fresh drinking water because we put pesticides and toxins into the water and soil when farming or littering. When the toxins and pesticides enter the ground and soil, they wander around to the nearest water source and pollute that water. Tons of the fertilisers in the soil used by farmers transfers into the water streams such as rivers, lakes, ponds, and it’ll eventually reach the ocean causing environmental damage.
Today, there are about 1.1 billion people without fresh drinking water. There are many near us, such as Six Nations, Mississauga, and even some in suburban Hamilton and Toronto areas. There are so many American’s as well without the pleasure of fresh drinking water, about 212 million people are without that or live within 10 miles of a polluted water source.
Many countries including Mexico, Pakistan, Congo, Nepal, and Ethiopia lack fresh drinking water. North Africa and the Middle East are also very affected to the lack of fresh drinking water.
About 56 percent of water is strictly for household purposes. That means that the other 44 percent are for anything that isn’t within our household products and purposes. That 44 percent contributes to animal life. Humans have 56 percent just for our household needs while all other life sources have the water to share.
We can try to control water usage and regulate water usage to help stop the lack of fresh drinking water. We can also help by using healthier peroxides in farming for the soil, water, and life sources living on earth. Also, if someone doesn’t have fresh drinking water, you can help them out by giving them some of yours or helping them and their community get some so we can all have the same pleasures. We all may be different on the outside, but on the inside, we are all the same. Our resources of food and water should be the same.
