Mercury Poison In Humans, What’s the Problem?
ByNow a days there are many problems in our environment, but one serious ecological problem is big industries causing fish to have high levels of mercury which then poisons humans. However not many people know much about this issue. So what is this problem and the facts behind it.
This ecological issue started when big industries started polluting the water. Then microorganisms transform mercury into a highly toxic form called methylmercury, which forms when bacteria come into contact with mercury in water or soil, which then builds upon fish. Since we eat fish we will get the toxins in our system which poison us.

When it comes to humans getting poisoned by mercury there is a certain area where it is more of a focused issue. Which is Grassy Narrows. This is more of an issue in that area because they don’t have clean drinking water so it’s much easier to get mercury poisoning.
Even though this issue affects us it also affects aquatic ecosystems like lakes, rivers, streams, and oceans. They mainly get affected because that’s where the waste is being dumped and where all the pollution is going. Due to this fish and other aquatic creatures can die and their homes can get destroyed.
This problem is no ones fault except the big industries for not managing how their waste is being handled. Their mistake is causing a lot of damage to aquatic life and us.
