Mercury pollution in our waters and air is a serious problem that needs to be solved not only for us but for the environment. Over the years more and more people have become aware of this issue and some are doing things to help out and join the community to help get rid of this environmental issue.

One group that is trying to do something about mercury poisoning is the Zero Mercury Campaign Project. This is an international partnership and was formed in 2004. This group’s goal is to have “zero” emissions and minimize the use/supply of mercury in the environment. This partnership has achieved things like having European institutions agree to “beef up” their mercury regulations.

Another group that is helping out with the mercury problem in the environment is the Minnesota Auto Mercury Switch Recovery Program. This program was made in 2004 and is currently managed by End of Life which is a national program. They have achieved making people aware of the issue and have informed people what they can do to help out and join the community.

While there are bigger programs that are helping and doing a lot this doesn’t mean we shouldn’t help out too. If we all try and do little things like spreading the word, protesting to help people who are affected, and not using mercury products we can help save us and mainly the environment as well since it will take all of us. So join the community and help put a stop to mercury poisoning.
