Coral bleaching around the world

By

it is crazy to see how coral bleaching can effect an ecosystem.

Coral bleaching happens when the sea temperatures get too high or too low which makes the algae get too “stressed out” and leave the coral. as sad as it easy coral bleaching is caused by climate change which also isn’t good for our earth, its clear to see the one thing can lead to another.

the left is normal coral, the right is what happens to the coral when it is bleached or is being bleaching

Which ecosystem is affected?

The main ecosystem affected by coral bleaching is the reef fish species. Coral bleaching can impact the food supply of the fish and drive them away. which is not good because the food chain/ ecosystems can be highly effected since the reefs is there home.

During the 2014-2017 coral bleaching event, unusually warm waters affected 70% of coral reef ecosystems worldwide. Some areas were hit particularly hard, like the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, where hundreds of miles of coral were bleached.

Who is responsible for the damage?

climate change is responsible for the damage because depending on the weather is how the coral will react. The temperature needs to be just right for the coral to survive. So to say that humans are responsible for coral bleaching since humans are the cause of climate change.

What happens if all coral dies??
