here is a simplified version of a food chain in the ocean

Trophic levels

1: Phytoplankton 2: fish 3: whale

the producer is the phytoplankto (gives energy to the consumer)

the consumer is the fish (intakes the energy from the phytoplankton to surive)

the predator is the whale ( eats everything and gains/needs the most energy)
