My Plan.

The Issue

The issue that I have been studying all year is coal-burning plants along the shoreline, filtering mercury into the ocean, poisoning the aquatic life living there. Now, you may think that this doesn’t really affect us, but you would be wrong. That mercury infects the fish, and we catch and bring the fish home. We then in turn get infected. This issue affects all of us and its time we find a solution. That is why I came up with this solution to stop this cycle happening right now.

The Goal

My goal is to remove the dangerous coal-burning plants from the shoreline. Taking these plants out will benefit everyone except the people who need the energy from them. But there is a solution. There are many different and more efficient ways to produce energy such as hydroelectric plants, solar plants and wind plants. An example of a hydroelectric plant is using a dam or water to produce energy. This benefits the fish, the people who really on those energy sources for their power and us. Stopping the spread of mercury is a very crucial part of keeping our waters clean and not making it harder then it already is.

The Team

My first team is the Ontario Power Generation. Their company is a hydroelectric plant “installing” company. They have installed 241 Dams on 24 river systems and run 66 stations across Ontario. On their website they say; “Hydroelectric power is such a popular renewable energy source because it is a clean, reliable, flexible and an inexpensive way to produce the energy Ontario needs. Hydro generation relies on water, a renewable resource that OPG shares with Indigenous communities as well as local governments, industry and environmental groups, and recreational users.” This company would be very crucial to the plan as they build hydroelectric plants on the coast. These guys now their stuff and they would be a very good choice to help my cause.

The other group I have chosen is the Green party. They are a part for the government of Canada. Their party runs the environmental part of Canada and oversee things such as the Alberta pipeline and other such things. I believe they would be very crucial to my plan as I would need money and a stable business to help remove all of coal-mining plants and authorize the installation of different power plants.

The Resources

The resources I would need to accomplish my goal would be heavy equipment used to take down heavy buildings. That would be for tearing down the coal-burning plants. Then I would need the resources needed to build the hydroelectric dams and power stations. I would need the clearance of the government and funding to put this plan into full action.

The Short and Long-Term Goals

The short term goal is to assemble a reliable team and the resources needed to start demolishing the old plants and replacing them with new ones.

The long term goal is to have all coal-burning plants with safer, more sustainable hydroelectric plants and make the aquatic life easier without the mercury poisoning them.
